STEREOTACTIC RADIOSURGERY FOR BRAIN METASTASES FROM GASTROINTESTINAL PRIMARIES: ANALYSIS OF OUTCOMES

چکیده

Abstract AIMS Brain metastases from gastrointestinal primaries are uncommon with poor reported outcomes following SRS. We evaluated clinical for patients diagnosed metastatic brain tumours a primary treated stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). METHOD A single institutional retrospective review of LINAC-based SRS at our institution between 2017 and 2022. Median survival was calculated the time RESULTS total 24 were malignancy locations as follows: 10 colon, 7 rectum oesophageal. 6.4 months overall cohort 4.5 6.1 14 oesophagus. 44% 14% had undergone surgical resection colorectal cancer (CRC) oesophageal respectively. in CRC receiving post-operatively 6.8 compared 11.5 non-gastrointestinal primaries. Time diagnosis to showed an inverse correlation survival: 48 21 13 Compared patients, more likely have extra-cranial disease (57% vs. 18%). CONCLUSIONS Survival after is poor, but we demonstrate important differences outcome depending on location malignancy. Oesophageal best colon having worst. Although findings influenced by patient selection bias, these worthy further investigation.

Stereotactic radiosurgery for brain metastases.

Worldwide, approximately 100,000 patients have undergone stereotactic radiosurgery for a variety of intracranial lesions, of which brain metastases represent the most common treatment indication. This article summarizes the major issues surrounding the management of brain metastases, and also analyzes 21 independent reports of Gamma Knife- or linear accelerator-based radiosurgery, representing ...

[Stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy for brain metastases].

Brain metastases management is still controversial even though many trials are trying to define the respective roles of neurosurgery, whole-brain radiotherapy, single-dose stereotactic radiotherapy and fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy. In this article, we review data from trials that examine the role of radiosurgery and fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy in the management of brain met...

Whole Brain Radiotherapy Combined with Stereotactic Radiosurgery versus Stereotactic Radiosurgery Alone for Brain Metastases.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) combined with streotactic radiosurgery versus stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) alone for patients with brain metastases. MATERIALS AND METHODS This was a retrospective study that evaluated the results of 46 patients treated for brain metastases at Dr. Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Ankara Oncology Training an...

Outcomes of patients with brain metastases from melanoma and renal cell carcinoma after primary stereotactic radiosurgery.

Patients with melanoma or renal cell carcinoma (RCC) frequently have brain metastases.3,9,15,38,46,47 These patients have traditionally been treated with surgery, palliative whole-brain radiation (WBRT), or both. Surgery, even today, is generally reserved for assessable, symptomatic lesions in patients with a good Karnofsky Performance Score. Recursive partition analysis (RPA), which classifies...

The Usefulness of Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Radioresistant Brain Metastases

OBJECTIVE We investigated the effectiveness of stereotactic gamma knife Radiosurgery (GKR) for radioresistant brain metastases with the impact upon histology. METHODS Between April 2004 and May 2011, a total of 23 patients underwent GKR for 67 metastatic brain tumors from 12 renal cell cancers, 5 sarcomas and 6 melanomas. The mean age was 56 years (range, 18 to 79 years). Most of the patients...
